Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention Training in Argyll and Bute

Argyll and Bute HSCP offers FREE training courses to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention. These courses are open to anyone living or working in Argyll and Bute, including community members, healthcare professionals, educators, and anyone passionate about improving mental wellbeing.

You can book a Mental Health Awareness or Suicide Prevention training course through Turas Learn. Here’s how:

  1. Sign up for Turas | My Turas | Home (if you haven’t already)

  2. Go to the Public health zone | Turas | Learn

  3. Choose a training category:

    Mental health and wellbeing | Turas | Learn and Suicide prevention | Turas | Learn

  4. Pick a course for Argyll and Bute only (except SIPP, which is available for both North Highland and Argyll and Bute communities), choose a date, and book your place.

Scottish Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA)

SMHFA provides general information about mental health problems, helping you learn how to recognise when someone is in mental health distress.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

ASIST is a suicide first aid training course, delivered in a 2-day practical workshop. It develops skills through simulated scenarios. 

safeTALK

safeTALK is a suicide alertness training that teaches to recognise people who may have thoughts of suicide and how to connect them to appropriate help.

‘Take Some Breathing Space’ Information Session by Breathing Space

"Ask, Tell" Workshops

"Ask, Tell" workshops are designed to improve knowledge around suicide, self-harm, mental health, and compassionate conversation. 

Suicide Intervention and Prevention Programme (SIPP)

SIPP aims to improve awareness of suicidal thinking, increase confidence to ask if someone feels suicidal, and to support them to seek further help.

First Aid for Youth Mental Health

FAYMH course at SCQF Level 5 is ideal for anyone who works with or supports young people, including teachers, volunteers, education staff.

Self-Harm Awareness Training by Self-Harm Network Scotland
