Argyll and Bute

You will need a Turas account to book onto many of our training courses. If you do not already have a Turas account, this is how to set one up:  

  1. Sign up for Turas | My Turas | Home (if you haven’t already) 

  2. Go to the Public health zone | Turas | Learn

  3. Choose a training category i.e., ‘Mental Health and Wellbeing’  

  4. Pick a course for Argyll and Bute, choose a date, and book your place.

Self Harm Awareness Training

Who runs the training? Self-Harm Network Scotland develop and deliver a variety of informative and accessible training and resources to help improve understanding of self-harm. If you have a team at work interested in our training, contact SHNStraining@penumbra.org.uk for further information.

Courses available: 

  • 1-hour Self-Harm Awareness Session (for professionals and members of the public).  

  • 3-hour Self-Harm Awareness: Understanding And Supporting People Who Self-Harm (for professionals).

  • 1 Full Day Self-Harm Awareness: Understanding And Supporting People Who Self-Harm (for professionals). 

SpeakEasy Training

What is this course about? Speakeasy is a preventative community education programme which helps parents to tackle the issues around children growing up, including body changes, safety and relationships and sexual health. The project works with groups of parents and carers to provide age-appropriate information, resources and support to enable them to confidently discuss these subjects in the home, helping children to make safer choices 

Duration & format: 1.5-hour webinars 

Who should attend?: Parents and carers in Argyll and Bute (small groups of 10-12 per session).

HeartStart Training

What is this course about? HeartStart provides free life-saving, public defibrillator, CPR and basic first aid training.  

Duration & format: 2 hours, in person. 

Who should attend?: Community groups, voluntary organisations, healthcare teams, workplaces and other interested groups can all request training directly from us.
